Exercise Physiologist Job Description

We are searching for an Exercise Physiologist for our healthcare facility to handle our patient exercise programmes' management. Our rehabilitation programmes can make a significant difference to the lives of individuals with chronic health issues, and you will be responsible for patient intake, interviews, and developing bespoke treatment plans. Your duties will include gaining an understanding of each patient's abilities thru cardiac stress testing. You will then create a plan of stretches and physical exercises to enable the patient to reach their realistic goals. You will provide nutritional guidance to support the patient's efforts. You must have an ACSM credential and a degree in exercise physiology to be eligible for this role.

Exercise Physiologist Duties and Responsibilities

  • Conduct patient intake interviews
  • Create and implement treatment plans for patients
  • Instruct patients on how to exercise
  • Share how patients can support their efforts with nutrition
  • Document patient progress and test results
  • Use exercise testing to determine the physical limitations and abilities of each patient
  • Issue exercise plans to help patients move towards their goals
  • Schedule follow-up appointments

Exercise Physiologist Skills and Requirements

  • ACSM-CEP or ACSM-EP credential
  • BLS certification
  • ACLS certification, obtained within 90 days of the hiring date
  • Clinical experience in exercise physiology or cardiopulmonary rehabilitation
  • Ability to interpret and monitor EKGs
  • Bachelor’s degree in exercise physiology or exercise science
  • Master’s degree or equivalent clinical experience in clinical exercise physiology
