What does a Barback do?

Barbacks perform tasks to support the bartender and other staff members. They help with opening and closing duties, prepare and serve drinks, stock items, assist in the reordering process, and perform minor repairs.

Barback Role

We are searching for a Barback to join our team and assist our bartenders and other bar staff. As a Barback, you will be responsible for ensuring customers enjoy prompt service at a high standard. Your duties will include stocking the bar with glasses, straws, napkins, and other sundries, cleaning the bar area, and supporting bartenders as directed. You will need to be able to work in a busy environment, be attentive to customer needs, and leverage and build upon your bar menu knowledge.

Barback Duties

  • Ensuring the bar stock is sufficiently maintained.
  • Assisting with bar opening and closing procedures and tasks.
  • Cleaning the bar, including sweeping and mopping floors and wiping down bar surfaces.
  • Building and maintaining your knowledge of the current bar menu.
  • Taking drinks and snacks orders from customers.
  • Taking payments, preparing drinks, and delivering orders during busy periods.

Barback Requirements

  • Good English and Maths.
  • Knowledge of bar drinks, including wines, beers, shots, and cocktails.
  • Good time management
  • Familiarity with Point Of Sale software (preferred).
  • Good problem-solving and complaint resolution skills.
  • Physical stamina for walking, standing, bending, and lifting.
